We the sisters of Jesus Mary Joseph, an international congregation came to Andhra Pradesh Guntur District, in the year 1904. Since then we have been living and working here with the people of this area and are involved in socio-pastoral and educational and health services. In our socio-pastoral involvement, we work with women and children for their total well being through different activities. One such project is service to the Girl child.
‘The Congregation of Jesus Mary Joseph’was registered on 12th January 1987. This Society has its works in socio-pastoral, health, counselling, educational and hostels, homes for children, differently challenged and the elderly in the five southern states of Karnataka, Kerala, Goa, Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra. Since its inception, much of its work and focus is
on women, youth, children and elderly. The work among the children of different target groups like the orphans, differently challenged (Physical and mental), street girls have been carried out for 15 years, either in collaboration with other organizations or independently on our own. The JMJ Sneha Sadan Children’s Home in Bangalore was started in May 2015 with 16 children who stay and study in the Golden Chariot Public School run by the lay organization. These children are from vulnerable situations and in great need. It is amazing to note the tremendous growth and development in these children.
Girl Child is responsible for the development and growth of a nation. However, the existence of the woman is in serious trouble in our culture. Because we cannot think about our existence as humans without women, so there should be measures to save the girl child. It’s a common practice in India where people abort, kill girl child or discard them. But, they should be saved given equal opportunity, and respect and opportunity to go ahead in life. Apart from that, inadvertently the fate of civilization lies in their hand as they are the root of our creation.
JMJ Sneha Sadan is commited for the complete upliftment of the Girl Child. Right from the schooling to that of sheltering and caring them everything is taken care by JMJ. Children at JMJ can grow in a safe and secure enviroment, which enables them to flourish and establish them as they set out into the world as the future citizens of India. Along with these children also have access to medical attention in JMJ Sneha Sadan.
